D-Bell tolls for Prop 2?; Ward KKKonnerly; Zarko’s zany assertions?; Where’s Muhammad Ali?; etc.
(Cross-posted from Michigan Liberal)Â
I know the title is a little long, but better to do that than write 5 separate diaries or whatever:
1) Back to our “friend” Dawson Bell of the Freep, he claims today that the “NO on Prop 2/MCRI” forces are now ahead by 10 points? –What? …That would be nice if true, but it’s certainly not expected. (And the graphic the Freep gives, which is hard to read, doesn’t help either.)
2) Ward KKKonnerly: self-explanatory. Not hard to understand. Use it at will.
3) Chet Zarko of MCRI fame is not altogether a bad guy–he has some decent small-government and libertarian leanings, perhaps–, but still, some things should be noted. (And there are others; these are just some of the worst.)
…This is a little naughty: in his 9/4/06 blog entry Perfectly Said by the Jackson-Citizen Patriot, CZ sez “…On the other hand, the editor’s [sic] at the Detroit Free Press go off the deep end in this editorial, fell*ating Judge Tarnow’s decision with a masterful stroke of ignorance to the First Amendment.” –Not only is “fell-ting” (see, I don’t even use the whole word myself) sort of naughty; the Zark doesn’t even do the “omission” thing correctly! That is, he should have left out the “a”, and should have let the asterisk be in place of the “a”. Sheesh.
On his own blog, he links to BlackatMichigan but calls it “The ‘Black’ Blog”. Is there a real need for quotations? and is it THE Black Blog, when there are so many? Hm.
The Chet doesn’t seem to like Black History Month, either (!), from what I can tell in his 12/19/05 post Morgan Freeman “Surprises” 60 Minutes and Criticizes Black History Month.
Last but not least, we see in a post from 10/5/06,  there are fundamental physio-mental (style) differences between males and females. These differences create different lifestyle preferences among men and women.†He does make some clarifications in his comments below that one in the thread, but I’m still not sure he explains everything. (And calls me an “ASS” too. Well!)
I have always liked Chet personally (at one UM Regents’ meeting, where he was supposed to show up but didn’t, I even took up his cause!, forwarding to the Regents a libertarian complaint by Chet about the way UM police treated homeless people visiting the Michigan Union building, I think), but some of his assertions are hard to defend…
4) Finally: can someone find Muhammad Ali and get him to make a statement against Prop 2? Couldn’t hurt; and telling him the KKK likes MCRI might get him really riled up, in a good way…
        Have a great Sunday!

i.e. Ward KKKonnerly…you are aware he’s black, right? I know you’re adamantly supportive of affirmative action (I am too, to a degree), but I think it’s pretty ridiculous to equate someone who would like to rid our system of racial preferences to a group that lynched people. I’m not sure you’re familiar with the Dave Chappelle sketch about the blind black man who was in the KKK b/c he didn’t know he was black, but as funny as that was, I don’t think it’s possible in real life.

Normally; but Ward seemed happy to compliment the Ku Klux Klan, if you read some of my other posts…
I did read a couple years back in a magazine, about a black man who tried to join the Klan. ( Presumably without success) The caption was, “Maybe They Needed Someone to Wash the Sheets”.

Mcfro- the association between KKK and Connerly is one that Connerly openly embraced. David’s adding the KKK is just plain funny. And as far as I know, Connerly is against racial classifications, so whenever I have heard him talk, he’s identified as multiracial, so our labeling him “Black” would be antithetical to his cause. In that sense, it reminds me of the Chapelle Show skit with the “racial draft”, I’m more that willing to have another group be associated with him. We, Black folks, have been working for our progress for too long to have him affiliated and sullying our rep ;)
D-Bo- On the Blackblog thing, it could be considered partially my fault. A couple years ago I tore down much of my page. I had a bunch of stuff on BlackatMichigan.com and the blog was the central feature, at that time it was named “The Blackblog”. When I took down the other stuff, the blog remained and I adjusted everything to read “BlackatMichigan.com”. With that said, he holds no guilt, but I did mention to him before that the blog is BlackatMichigan.com and not the Blackblog. So it’s up to him to change it or not. For what it’s worth, I’m sure the folks who visit his page get a kick out of going to the “blackblog”.

I see your point, but just take issue at demon-izing your opponents like that.H He’s just a man fighting for what he believes, and we may disagree, but that’s his right to do so. I’m still bummed about the result yesterday, though.

It’s fully his right. And despite my sentiments towards him, he won. And I’m still bummed too!

For my reply and David’s cross-reply and my cross-reply, see the Michiganliberal cross-post thread.
And David, I still like you, despite this. I know it must have been a tough week.

Thanks! The week had difficult parts, one could say.
I have added a cross-cross-reply over there, I guess.

Hey, Dumi, sorry about the failure to update blackblog to BatM. I just noticed and contemplated your point about the changes. i don’t remember you emailing me, but it could have slipped my memory when I was busy running a campaign, etc. Sorry.
In B2evolution, the “LinkBlog” is only editable by date, so finding and editing old link entries is very hard. I’ll try to find it in the raw database and then go back to the month entered, but I’m not at my main computer right now.
